Dr. Natalie Goldring is a Visiting Professor of the Practice in the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University, teaching in the Duke in DC program.

She serves as a member of the core leadership team for the International Action Network on Small Arms, developing strategy and writing briefing papers on the implementation of the Programme of Action on Small Arms and Light Weapons and the Arms Trade Treaty. She represents the Acronym Institute for Disarmament Diplomacy (UK) at the United Nations, primarily on issues related to small arms and light weapons, conventional weapons transfers, the Arms Trade Treaty, and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. She is a member of the Inaugural Advisory Council of the Centre for Armed Violence Reduction (Australia) and an advisor to Student Pugwash (US).

Throughout her career, Dr. Goldring has often combined teaching with work with non-governmental organizations. Her analytic work, speaking, media work, and publications have covered a wide range of international security and disarmament topics, including small arms and light weapons, the international arms trade, nuclear nonproliferation and disarmament, gender issues, and disarmament education.

Dr. Goldring earned her PhD in political science from MIT, with a specialization in defense and arms control. She also holds a master’s degree in public policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Wellesley College.
