Jen Spindel is an associate professor of political science and international affairs at the University of New Hampshire. Her research interests include international security, foreign policy, and the conventional arms trade. She previously served on the governing board of the International Security Studies Section of the International Studies Association.   Spindel's dissertation, Beyond Military Power: Signaling and the Conventional Weapons Trade, won the 2018 Kenneth Waltz Award for Best Dissertation in International Security from APSA’s International Security Section. Her research has appeared in Security Studies, the Journal of Global Security Studies, Armed Forces & Society, and Environmental Communication. Her work as also appeared in the European Leadership Network, War on the Rocks, and the Washington Post’s Monkey Cage.    Spindel received her BA in Peace and Conflict Studies from Colgate University and her PhD in Political Science from the University of Minnesota. She previously held fellowship positions at Dartmouth College and George Washington University.
