Habbouba Aoun is Director of Community Engagement within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Balamand in Lebanon. She has twenty-five years of experience in planning, executing, monitoring and evaluating community projects bridging public health and development -- especially in post war conditions -- based on needs assessments, community respect, community participation, and right-based approaches. Aoun is a member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines-Cluster Munition Coalition  and contributed to the development of mine action centers and mine action strategies, standards, and curricula in Lebanon and other Arab countries.   Aoun completed a doctorate degree in public health and development, a Master of Science degree in population studies, and a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental health. She also completed many advanced courses in epidemiology, in leadership, and in emergency preparedness and humanitarian settings.
