Arms Trade Treaty | global trade data/trends | Europe ​ Frank Slijper leads the Arms Trade project at PAX, based in the Netherlands. Slijper is an economist and has been working on arms trade and disarmament issues since 1993. Research areas include Dutch and international arms trade, industry policy and the role of the financial sector. Over the years he has done extensive research into (Dutch links to) the set up of Pakistan's nuclear weapons program as well as Iraq's chemical weapons program of the 1980s. The emergence of military policies within the EU has long been another area of work, as has been research into the development of increasingly autonomous weapons. In recent years his work has largely focused on arms trade in the context of the war in Yemen, as well as arms transfers to Israel. Over the past year he has been involved in the court case where three Dutch NGOs successfully demanded the Dutch government to stop exporting and facilitating F-35 fighter jet related transfers to Israel.
