Cristian Wittmann is a professor of Law at Universidade Federal do Pampa (UNIPAMPA) where he coordinates the Grupo de Práticas em Direitos Humanos e Direito Internacional (Group of Practices in International Law and Human Rights Law) as an outreach project on international humanitarian disarmament in connection with civil society organizations. He served at Unipampa as Director of International and Interinstitutional Relations and Strategic Affairs from 2018-2020. An advocacy leader in Brazil with the SEHLAC network, Wittmann serves as its representative at the international steering group of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons and also collaborates with different campaigns such as the Campaign to Stop Killer Robots, Cluster Munition Coalition, and International Campaign to Ban Landmines, among others. 

Wittmann holds a bachelor's degree in Law, a master's degree in Law, and a doctoral degree in Law with experience in humanitarian disarmament and international law. He has participated in conferences on all continents since 2004.

Wittmann speaks Portuguese, English, and Spanish, and is based in south Brazil.
