Avihai Stollar is a human rights researcher and arms specialist. For the past 14 years he has been working with the Israeli anti-occupation veterans group Breaking the Silence. He has held various research positions in the organization and currently leads the research work in an extensive inquiry into Israel's military tactics in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Stollar also is currently an international politics PhD student in the University of Coimbra in Portugal. His research thesis focuses on autonomous weapon systems and the political mechanisms that guide their international regulation. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in Human Rights Law from the University of London, an MA in international development and a BA in international relations, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Aside from his research commitments, Stollar often provides consultancy to journalists, scholars, and human rights researchers on matters relating to arms and military structures, mostly in regard to the Israeli armed forces. He is also a member of the Justice Rapid Response international crime investigators roster.
